The course covers the foundation understanding of basic computer terminology. Students will learn the organization of basic computer along with computer hardware and software applications. Students will be able to identify various system unit internal and external components, peripheral devices, ports, connectors, sockets and slots. Understanding the role of operating system in a basic computer and getting familiar with various desktop operating systems. The course is hands-on intensive that engages students in, assembling and disassembling system unit; troubleshooting and diagnosing system unit, peripheral devices and BIOS; interacting with user interfaces of various operating systems. Students will get familiar with variety of applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, multimedia presentation and web applications. The course also covers the basic concepts of computer programming. Finally the students will get familiar with basics of computer networking.
